Caroline Brooman-White The heart and soul of the Club, Caroline teaches and supervises with such an infectious enthusiasm for the game that you would not be surprised to hear she is a late-night Internet Bridge addict. As co-director of the Club (with Andrew) she has watched the Club develop from small enterprise above a pub to major success story with its own dedicated premises. Caroline was one of the four “students” on Andrew’s new learning Bridge DVD. Caroline has two sons, Alex and Fergus.
Jack Stocken Following in the footsteps of his two brothers Simon and Zebedee (who still regard the Club as their second homes even though they are now independent bridge professionals), Jack’s responsibilities at the Club grow daily in keeping with his ability to perform them. Whether it be marketing, merchandising, or simply making sure the Club runs smoothly, Jack is your man. Those ringing the Club for the first time will likely find Jack’s voice on the other end of the line. When not at ARBC, one of Jack’s hobbies is appearing on Game Shows – where his steely nerve counts for much.
David Bakhshi The main teacher of our structured courses, David has such a clear, yet relaxed style, that his students rave about his classes – and invariably come back for more! David has the rare talent of being a brilliant teacher and a top player. Frequently in partnership with Andrew, David is a regular member of the English Bridge team. Next to Andrew and Caroline, David has been part of the team for longest, and his contribution is invaluable.
Nick Boss Whether supervising beginners or playing at the top level, Nick’s love of Bridge always shines through. An English international Triallist, Nick also has technical expertise that is vital for directing Duplicates and for such projects as helping in the making of Andrew’s new Play Modern Bridge DVD.
Richard Johnson Like Nick, Richard is an English International Triallist whose love of the game ensures a happy trip to the Club for all. His supervision and Duplicate directing are both efficient and enthusiastic – particularly as the day progresses (Richard is a renowned night-owl!).
Lorna Heaton Lorna’s bubbly personality always lightens up the Club, where she is integral in organising the courses and signing you in. Along with Caroline, Lorna was originally a Club member before Andrew recognised that her talents were perfectly suited to working in the Club.
Marina Nazarova You will always find the bar spick and span, with delicious snacks available at all times. The reason for this is Marina, who takes a real pride in her work. Originally from Siberia, the bar and food facility has never been better.
Edward Sunley Edward’s charm and enthusiasm have single-handedly ensured that ARBC is the place to be on a Friday night.
Peter Stocken A legendary figure. Father of Jack, Simon and Zeb, Peter makes jigsaws in his Yorkshire home when not helping out at ARBC or writing his now famous commentaries for Tuesday and Thursday night Duplicates (including his one “special”).
Ben McCarron Relatively new recruit, Ben's charm both at and away from the table ensure that your enthusiasm and ability at the game will grow.
Heather Bakhshi David’s wife and the mother of their new baby Jasmine, Heather is a great asset, whether it be giving advice on Wednesday nights or at the computer with babe in arms.
Emma Hyde Loyal member ever since its inception almost ten years ago, Emma is now very much part of the team, an invaluable superviser on a Monday night or in any crisis.
Brian McGuire Regular supervisor on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, you will enjoy Brian's company and benefit from his Bridge wisdom.
Alice Kaye Self-assured, enthusiastic, good communicator, and great Bridge player…And Alice still hasn’t turned twenty! Now at Oxford University and so around less, you will occasionally see her supervising on a Tuesday and Thursday night and sometimes on a Wednesday.
Jane Brydon-Brown Loyal supporter of the Club as a member, Jane now gives her pearls of wisdom on our Friday morning Special Hands session.
Jake Dunn Although now based in Barcelona, Jake, Adam’s younger brother still feels part of the Club, and is increasingly involved in our away-trips. His energy and positivity always shine through.
Shahriar Bakhtiar Bridge is never dull with Shahriar around. Whether supervising or playing, he injects an energy and an eccentricity that can make even a One Notrump contract look exciting.
Nicky Caine Our fabulous efficient bookkeeper who is so much more than that.
